Small Work, Big Productivity
A little secret to creating massive success | $97.00 Value
“If you don't have enough clients...
If the clients you have don't pay enough...
If your projects take too long to complete...
If you have ANY goal you have not yet hit...
This is the ONE thing that actually matters!
More than that - NOTHING else matters if you DON'T do this...
I blocked out 3pm-4pm to ****** *** ******* every day. Now my pipeline is brimming with leads willing to pay more than I've ever charged before.
It isn't sexy. It just works.”
— Andrew Walton, BTMSinsiders Member
For the last couple months, I’ve been running occasional productivity challenges in the BTMSinsiders Private Facebook Group…
Andrew, quoted above, was the winner of one of the recent challenges.
I asked him to weigh in on the power of the challenge.
That quote was his response. [With one detail redacted here but available in the Facebook Group.]
Here’s the thing…
Most of us have a pretty good idea of our next steps…
Of the next 3-5 things we could do to get us closer to our big goals.
And often, each one of those 3-5 things is a small little task or next action that would be easy to complete if we just sat down and did it.
I’ve taken to calling these tasks “Small Work.”
For many of us, our biggest challenge is sitting down, and getting this Small Work done.
Especially when there are so many other things that compel our attention elsewhere.
We struggle with getting the little things done on a daily basis that would add up to our long-term big goals, if we would just do them.
Last year, I was having a productivity crisis…
I’d established a bare minimum I needed to get done on a weekly and monthly basis.
And I was doing well enough, because that bare minimum was enough to do well.
BUT…
I wasn’t growing like I knew I could.
And my business wasn’t either.
Because as soon as I was done with the bare minimum, I would hit a productivity wall.
And mind you, this could happen by 10 AM.
(Or sometimes, I’d hit the productivity wall first thing in the morning, not get anything done until the last minute, and then get those essential tasks done in the last few minutes before they were due.)
I’d spend all day in the dopamine deluge of the internet…
Not doing what I actually wanted to be doing — what I intended to be doing.
Willpower, intent, and purpose weren’t enough to actually make me do the work.
The worst part was, I felt like a total failure.
Even as I was doing my best to act like I had everything together…
Inside, I felt like a whole pile of unfulfilled potential.
Knowing, “I could do so much better if I just applied myself.”
… And other teacher tropes for the smart-but-struggling student.
Even as I knew what to do to move my business forward…
In fact, I had to-do lists, project lists, someday maybe lists — all the ideas in the world — that could’ve helped.
And still, knowing what to do…
I’d reflect at the end of the day, day after day, as I didn’t do ANYTHING meaningful above baseline.
I hit a breaking point…
Basically, I was fed up with myself at just the right moment.
And the universe seemed to know it.
Because within 24 hours of me deciding…
✔ SOMETHING MUST CHANGE.
✔ IT HAS TO BE ME.
✔ AND IT HAS TO BE NOW!
I ended up finding myself watching an ad for Commit Action, a completely different type of coaching program for entrepreneurs and business professionals.
(Not trying to sell you on it, including here because it is relevant to this message — and note that the link above is a referral link that gives us both credit if you sign up after clicking it.)
I’ve had a TON of success with other high-level, strategic coaching.
But this program took a completely different tack.
The solution was Small Work…
That’s my name for it — not theirs.
Basically, they get you to identify a handful of BIG needle-movers.
— What are those things that are most likely to help you achieve your goals, if you can get them done?
— If you get nothing else done, what will be the most likely projects that will create the success you desire?
Then, you break those down.
You identify the handful of Small Work actions you can take THIS WEEK that will move you a few steps forward on your path to your big goal.
Then, importantly, you follow what’s called an “Implementation Intention” process to actually make sure you do the Small Work.
RESULT: Small Work WORKS!
I’ve moved things forward in a bigger way in the last couple months since starting with them than I did in the previous year.
And my momentum is only growing as I get better at the nuances of Small Work execution.
Which is what inspired me to implement the Productivity Challenges for BTMSinsiders members…
Basically, I asked members to decide on ONE PROJECT they want to make progress on. One important project.
… Then to schedule ONE HOUR per day, to do specific tasks from that project.
… And to report in when they completed each day’s tasks (or even if they didn’t).
… And finally, to reflect on how it all went and what they learned.
And these reflections are representative of what happens when you even follow this simple process…
“These are things I've put off for... dare I say a year or more. And to do it all in a week? Mind Blowing.”
— George C.
“You are so right about the momentum, Roy. Once I get started it's easy to keep working, almost to finish.”
— Lee B.
“ I KNOW that consistency is the ‘secret’ but this challenge helped me finally put it into PRACTICE. Thanks Roy!”
— Michelle S.
Honestly: You can have all the great business and marketing advice in the world, but if you don’t put it into practice, you don’t get the result.
That’s what so many of my members are now discovering through these productivity challenges.
And still…
Even as I saw so much success from the productivity challenges, I’ve also seen struggles…
— What happens when you miss an appointment?
— What happens when your productivity session doesn’t go as planned?
— What happens if the hour you scheduled feels too constricted?
Or if things are going well…
— How can you keep going with this outside of my productivity challenges?
— And how can you make the next challenge go even better?
And so in an attempt to help YOU apply these principles week in, and week out — and to refine and improve your implementation to the point where you have massive momentum and success…
To help you achieve massive productivity and success through the power of Small Work…
Small Work, Big Productivity was born!
It started because I wanted to do a reflection on recent productivity challenges, to help members achieve more success with the next one.
But the more I considered what that would look like, the deeper I wanted to go.
Until it got to the point where it just made sense to sit down and do a whole class on the topic.
This is me pulling back the curtain on why these productivity challenges have been so effective…
The principles and strategies behind them you can implement every single day…
And how you can achieve much bigger success by focusing on smaller tasks and actions.

This should be required training for everyone inside BTMSInsiders. Often I feel like my efforts at being productive get repetitive and redundant - leaving me feeling like I've actually wasted my time. This training is a comprehensive overview, because it truly goes into specifics that you can put into action today. Lots of great food for thought on how we can breakdown our productivity processes. Although the main video lesson is just over an hour, I ended up taking probably twice that time for making notes, and stopping to immediately enact the tips and advice in this mini course. I downloaded XMind and Workflowy and got to work! thanks, Roy, just what I needed!
All of the points in Roy's mind map are valid. They are so true, and I'm relieved that I'm not the only one experiencing the same roadblocks when it comes to productivity. In this masterclass, Roy also shared actionable steps that I can take, either solo or with an accountability group. I'm going to apply the lessons ASAP.
